Biography

Wei Song, the president of the Shanghai Opera House and vice president of Shanghai Musician Association, with a voice of perfect timber, he played numerous memorable roles including Cavaradossi in Tosca, Turridu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Calaf in Turandot, Alfredo in La Traviata. He is known as "China's Pavarotti". In 2004, to universal acclaim he performed Othello, considered to be the most difficult role in the tenor world. Wei Song has won many accolades, including being named Best Co-star in the Fifth Shanghai Stage Performance Prize for singing Leinsky in Eugene Oneginin 1994. His performances in opera and concerts have taken him around the world, including to dance, Japan, Germany, Swetzerland, Italy, Austria and elsewhere.
