Biography
Wu Muye – Piano Soloist Wu Muye was born in a family of music in December 23rd, 1985. Many people discovered his talent in music when he was a little child. He started to learn piano at the age of 4, and gave performances on the stage at the age of 5, and then won the first prize in the piano contest of level 5 held in Hong Kong.
In 1996, he entered the piano major of the primary school attached to Central Conservatory of Music which is the highest educational institution of Chinese music. Since he has gained acceptance from the entire school teachers and students, he was recommended for admission to Central Conservatory of Music attached middle school without exams, continuing his study under Professor Hui Zhong and Professor Zhou Guangren. He became an attention focused by millions of people as a young pianist at that time. In April, 1997, he visited five countries on behalf of Central Conservatory of Music and State Cultural Relics Bureau for cultural and article exchange performance. He received comments as “the most competent young musical genius of China” by different professionals from home and abroad and achieved the special medal from the State Cultural Relics Bureau. In November, 2007, he took part in the National Adolescent Two - piano Competition for Professional Art Academies a nd won the first place of Adolescent Professional Unit.
In September, 1998, he won the first place of Adolescent Professional Unit of National “XingHai Cup” Child and Teenager Piano Competition in Beijing.
In October, 1998, 12 year - old Wu Muye was recomm ended as “Chinese Extraordinary Music Adolescent”, and was introduced to the public in the popular column — “Music Bridge” of CCTV. At the same time, he recorded and published his DVD: “The Young Genius Wu Muye’s Piano Performance Album”.
In June, 1999, h e entered the international “SEILE” Piano Contest and won a prize. In 2000, he achieved the highest scholarship “Chengxian, Fu” of Central Conservatory of Music. In June, 2000, he went to France to continue his study and won the highest prize in the highes t rank of the China ﹠ France “Mido” Piano Contest in October. In February, 2001, although he was only 15, he convinced all the audience by his astonishing skills and his excellent sense of music and melody and was enrolled by the Piano Major of Paris Nation al Superior Music Institution (French: Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Abbreviation: C, N, S, M, D, P.), and studied under Mr. Jacques ROUVIER who enjoyed a great reputation in Europe.
In August, 2003, he won t he third place in the 54th Busoni International Piano Contest held in Italy (the first place is vacant) and won a prize in the Shanghai international piano contest at t he same time.
In December, 2004, he won the fourth place in Marguerite Marie - Charlott e Long International Piano Contest held in France.
In January, 2005, Yamaha awarded the special certificate of honor of “Europe Young Artist” to him.
In February, 2005, he won the gold prize of Pontoise European International Piano Contest — Piano Campus as well as the best Concerto for Orchestra Award, best Audience Award, best Classical Music Magazine award and best published CD. In June, 2006, Wu Muye had the honor to get the outstanding graduator diploma for the best result that all the judges agreed with unanimous approval.
In September 2007, Wu Muye defeated numerous graduators from different music institutions around the world again and entered the piano master (doctor) class of C.N.S.M.D.P to pursue further study, becoming the only Chinese young p ianist who won this highest diploma at present, which is called as the highest perfection of piano. (French: Perfectionnement Piano). The diploma is the third phase. The first phase is bachelor’s degree. The second phase is master’s degree, and the third p hase is doctor’s degree.
He graduated from the third phase of piano perfection in 2009, gaining acceptance from many music fields and was signed to give performances in different countries all over the world. Media around world have reported long before that Wu Muye gained the recognition from Europe music field by his extraordinary skills and music expressive ability. He was praised as the “Gold Finger” of Europe Piano! The French newspaper “le monde” said, “W hat an astonishing performance. It seems to bring me to the Heaven from chaos. What kind of magnificent person he is! He is filled with inspiration, brimming with natural and noble temperament!” “Chinese Music Newspaper” and “Sina Entertainment” reported a comment together that “People haven’t heard such a pure French Romantic performance for a long time!” He possesses handsome appearance, unique music expression and personal charm, which merge together with piano and win the heart of all audience.
