Xiao Ma is the first countertenor in the whole music history of China. Throughout many years studying, he has perfectly controlled all kinds of music styles, including Chinese and Western Operas, Art Songs, and Musicals. In the same time, his voice owns unique characteristic, especially in combining the interpretation of Classical Music and Popular Music. He has visited over 20 countries in the world, including the Second International Chinese Youth Music Week; New Zealand International Music Festival; Romania International Enescu Music Festival; Poland “the Fall of Warsaw” International Music Festival. He has collaborated with New Zealand National Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Aukland Philharmonic, Korea Busan Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, China National Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic, and Japan Tokyo Nomad Chamber Orchestra. He also has presented many debut, including “Three Songs from Yuan Dynasty” by famous composer Guo WeiJie; Operetta “Songs and Dances of Desire” , Song Cycles “Five Folksongs from Maori” by New Zealand famous composer Jack Body; “永乐” by famous composer 叶小纲; Chamber Music “One Year Later” by New Zealand composer Wojtek Blecharz; Chamber Music “静谧 听琴” by Poland composer Dylan Lardelli. He has participated many important performances, such as operas: “The Marriage of Figaro”, “欲望的歌与舞”, “日出”; Oratorio “Messiah”; German Musical “Hänsel und Grete”; Chamber Music “Three Songs from Yuan Dynasty”, “好花红” etc.
He has been interviewed by over 50 domestic and international media, and had received widely praised. These acclaims comes from “World Daily News” - the biggest Chinese newspaper in America, comments “…… dedicated performances and amazing voices”; “Autonomous Newspaper” from New Zealand, “his voice is unbelievable… he not only has the superb individual condition, but also possesses broad ambition.” The western media has called him “The China National Treasure”. His two albums have been issued by Singapore Universal Music Group in 2009 and 2011.
