Gao Weijie: Faraway Dream - for Percussion and Band

Introduction

This is the forth piece of a series of musical works subjected as “Dream”, created in 1994, once performed in Beijing and London.

The composition is created on the basis of 12-sound localization chord, using the structure of introduction, elucidation, transposition and summary structure. Music is light, clear, profound and lasting. In the playbill of its début, the composer interpreted the music as:

In my dream, I came back to old times, and return to the old places faraway.
Dream, is unreal, but the condensability and refraction of life.
