Introduction
The piece was composed in 2005 at the invitation of 《Music Composition》.
Vast snowfield is covered with white snow, just like what Tang Poet Liu Zongyuan described in his poem "A thousand mountains without a bird, ten thousand miles with no trace of man.", which looks so peaceful and extremely pure. But once the weather changes and storm comes, it becomes very scary. Therefore, the snowfield in winter contains unpredictable infinite complexity: mystery and ambiguity lies in crystal clarity, precipice and violence is hidden in placid and mildness, treachery found in ease, heaviness seen in lightness. "Winter Snow" just expresses the above impressions and feelings when he walked in the snow and appreciated the views.
The music is created to use the matching of two full interval Tetra-syllabic assembles of [0,1,4,6] and [0,1,3,7] as the basic pitch material.
